I was raised in a pretty religious family and I consider myself to have a good relationship with The Man upstairs but seriously, does it make me a bad Christian if I don't want to go to church on Sunday's anymore? I know you're supposed to go to feel spiritual but these days I just go and I feel unbelievably bored. The environment is so serious and I feel like everyone is just going through the motions when it comes to attending mass (Listen to the priest, sit down, stand up, eat the eucharist, shake hands with other people, pray, and then leave).
Honestly, I'd rather start going to the churches that all the black folks attend. They're at least more enthusiastic. Better yet, I'd rather just stay home on Sundays and watch Joel Osteen preach. Whenever I finish listening to him, I feel like I can cure cancer and save drowning puppies.
Many devoutly religious people would argue that I'm only severing my ties with God by not going to church but I don't think they know what the hell they're talking about. I think as long as you're a nice guy and you take some time out of your day to give thanks for all your blessings, then your relationship with Him would be just fine. After all, isn't that what we learn as Christians from day one?

LOL...Wow, I know exactly how you feel. I used to be Catholic, and I would find it so boring to go to church. So then I decided to see what it was to be Christian and I liked it better, so I converted. Even though in my opinion, it is better, I still don't go to church. I believe that you don't NEED church to be in good with God. Just as long as you believe in him and be as good as a person as you can be then Heaven will be waiting.
I'm ecstatic that other people feel the same way i do..I never went to church that much, but I read the bible frequently.I used to feel bad about not going, but now I've come to terms with doing what I feel comfortable doing. I realized that I don't have to go to church to have a connection with GOD. I always put HIM first in everything I do but I don't like church that much. I really do feel better watching Joel Osteen on Sundays. I think that Joel touches subjects that they don't discuss in church.
Hi. I am a Christian girl, and honestly, I can't say that I agree with you 100%, but I can say I have experienced that feeling. When I was younger, I really did not care for church, everyone was older, and the environment seemed so bland. There was a time in my life where I saw myself taking care of my own problems and I figured, Who really needs God? Let me tell you, that did not last long! My life became HELL. My relationship with my parents began to fall, school was suffering severely, and my life seemed so unhappy. I realized I was seeking all the wrong things. I decided to search for Him again, and my life has been nothing but blessings ever since. Everyone has there opinion, but maybe you just need to find a more lively church. Who says you need to follow your parents footsteps? My church started a youth group and it has grown incredibly. Now these are the people I call "true friends." They are great to be around and church seems alive! Now, I don't miss a Sunday. I find myself waiting anxiously to attend youth group. I hope you will find the right direction. There is not a better feeling than feeling secure in His path! Take care.
HELL YEAH! I believe it is extremely overrated. I believe that as long as you believe in God and that you pray to him every onnce in a while and keep him in mind then you are good. But, going to church every sunday? My opinion is that it is ridiculous
